Day of the Dead Quilt Exhibit

17 members of the Coachella Valley Quilt Guild have created quilts inspired by the “Just Add Color, Day of the Dead” coloring book by artist Sarah Walsh. Sarah has graciously allowed us to use her illustrations as the basis for our quilts. There were very few guidelines for this challenge except to look at the illustrations and let your imagination go wild. Add to this the history, colors and imagery surrounding Dia de los Muertos and you have so much to stimulate the emotion and creativity in each of the participants. It is no wonder that this is the third series of quilts we have completed involving this same theme.

These quilts will hang at the La Quinta Museum (77-885 Avenida Montezuma, La Quinta, CA 92253) in October and November. Admission to the museum is free.  For more information about the museum go to http://www.playinlaquinta.com/La-Quinta-Museum

You can also check out the museum's Facebook page.

In addition to the quilts you can enjoy Day of the Dead altars -- two of which were made by guild members.  Hope you get a chance to see this fantastic exhibit.
