The Coachella Valley Quilt Guild presents excellent speakers, including nationally known teachers and lecturers, that provide insight to a wide variety of topics related to quilting, from traditional to modern, from piecing techniques to design embellishments. The lecture presentations are given immediately after our monthly Saturday membership meetings, and classes are usually held on the Sunday following the meeting at the same facility. Classes can fill up fast, so if you see one that interests you, contact the Programs VP, Kathleen Herring, at programs@cvquiltguild.org

Sewing Studio Tours

Join other guild members to see how other quilters organize their sewing area -- but do it virtually.

It might be a room dedicated to sewing and crafts or just an area in the house.  It is amazing what insights you can get on making the most of the area you have be it how to set up your sewing area or organizing that fabric stash.

Our virtual studio tours will be part of our June, July and August meetings.  (Since we are going virtual, we thought it would be fun to stay in contact over the summer.)  Leslie Gardiner and Pat Siegel did a fantastic job giving us a tour of their studios at our June meeting. If you missed their tours, there are some photos on our Home page. You don't want to miss our next two months of tours.

Saturday, July 11 at 10am

Tours by Janna Calkins and Kathy Dunham

Saturday, August 8 at 10am

Tours by Mary Gorfine and Kathy Markley

Virtual or at UCR???

We aren't sure how the programs for the next few months will be presented, but the CVQG will be having meetings and programs on the second Saturday of the month.  Just keep checking back to see what is happening.

September Meeting -- Saturday, September 12, 2020

Lenie Bosman

Rescue Quilts and What I Have Learned From Them

Meeting begins at 10:00am

Program begins at 11:00am

What happens to the once treasured quilts that were made with so much love? Lenie Bosman and her daughter have been looking for those quilts, orphans quilts, and have rescued them and given them a new home and a new purpose. She likes to show you those quilts rescued from thrift stores, garage sales, attics and different individuals. Some are old and some are not so old. Lenie has been inspired by them and learned from them. She will pass that acquired knowledge on to you by the way of a bed turning.

Lenie has been an educator for more than 45 years with experience in teaching sewing and quilting. She is a certified Quilt in a Day instructor and has more recently started to design and write her own quilt patterns.

Trudy Cleveland

Shoot Your Quilt

Meeting begins at 10:00am

Program begins at 11:00am

When Trudy Cleveland started her long arming business in 2010, she made a commitment to document her progress.  This led to taking photography classes at a local college.  Each class she completed taught her how to improve both the quilting process and the final image of a quilt.

Trudy will share that knowledge in a presentation on how to take professional looking photographs with your Smartphone. She will open up “secret” features in your iPhone that can enhance any image you take with your smartphone. Have your phone by your side as this lecture is interactive!
