Desert Guilds Quilt Show 2024
Friday, March 1, 2024
Saturday, March 2, 2024
10am -- 4pm
Palm Springs Pavilion
401 Pavilion Way, Palm Springs, CA
The Desert Guilds Quilt Show is presented by three quilt guilds: Cactus Sew-ables Quilt Guild, Coachella Valley Quilt Guild, and Pass Patchers Quilt Guild. The show is a biennial event held in the even-numbered years. It is traditionally held the first weekend in March.
The 2020 Desert Guilds Quilt Show is over and all packed up for two years. Hopefully you had a chance to see it in person as it was a wonderful presentation of quilts and quilting skills not just from Coachella Valley but also from the two other guilds, Cactus Sewables and Pass Patchers, who all work together to put on this great guild show.
All three guilds have started planning for the 2024 show. The Challenge Quilt event has been set by Challenge Chair Robert Tucker (CVQG). It is called "Opposites Attract". Details and entry forms are below. These are due by the February 2024 CV guild meeting.
The Miniature Quilts and Art Quilts Co-Chairs Elaine Bowden and Maryjayne Bradley (CSQG) have updated the information and forms and they are available below. These are due by the February 2024 guild meeting. If you have questions, CV members should contact Stephanie Beasley our Miniature Rep at info@cvquiltguild.org
We hope members of the Coachella Valley Quilt Guild have started planning their entries. The entry form is due in January. There is a $5 entry fee and you need to have 3 copies of the photo of your quilt. The event is open to all guild members. The first 40 entries will be accepted to the show. Good luck.
Showcase entry forms are below.
The following are general guidelines to follow for making items for the 2024 Quilt Show Boutique.
Sale items must be fiber – sewing or quilted related. However, please be aware of the vendors at the show and do not compete with them.
Items must be made by a member of CVQG and should be in condition befitting the reputation of the Guild.
There will be no markdowns or last day sales.
Items must be priced by the maker before turning them in. Our minimum price will be $3.00. Pricing must be done in dollar increments, no coins. Sales tax will be backed out of sales.
Since two guilds are participating this year, all items will be placed randomly – not grouped according to guilds . To control inventory, a limited number to be made may be set on some items.
All expenses will be shared equally by the two guilds, Pass Patchers and Coachella Valley. Income of each guild is determined by the sales of items submitted by that guild.
Unsold items from Coachella Valley Quilt Guild will be returned to the maker at the April 2024 Guild Meeting. The maker is required to sign a receipt of goods returned.
The sooner you hand in your items, the better Please check with the committee before making an item. We don’t want everybody making pin cushions and table runners. The absolute deadline is the February 2024 Guild Meeting.
Desert Guilds Quilt Show or individual Guilds accepts no responsibility for any items lost, stolen or damaged. No insurance is available.
Submission of items for sale indicates acceptance of the guidelines.

Challenge 2024
OPPOSITES ATTRACT
FOUR WAYS
This challenge is based on use of the color wheel. Most of us are familiar with the color wheel whether we use it or not. Any way you look at it color is one of our dynamic tools when it comes to design or pleasure in achieving our end product. By limiting our palette unique challenges and results can occur. The premise is to use only two base colors with whatever and how many shades of them you choose.
There are 4 color options ~
YELLOW AND PURPLE
RED AND GREEN
BLUE AND ORANGE
And the classic opposite BLACK AND WHITE
Note: Binding can be any color ~
Your design may be traditional, modern, or art.
To enter your quilt, download the entry form and bring it with you to your guild meeting along with the quilt in a brown/non-see through bag at your guild's February 2024 meeting.
