Everything but Fabric Sale
What a wonderful event this was!
$2,943.80 in actual sales ($2,240.00 in machines, $651.30, in Notions and $52.50 in Books). 57 people signed in. When the doors opened at 9:00am people were lined up and waiting. We raised $54 in donations for The Joslyn Center and received pantry donations as well.
Marcia and I want to thank every volunteer for your hard work and support both on Friday and Saturday. The virus took out some of our volunteers, but you ALL made sure our shoppers had a great experience!

What a wonderful event we had this past Saturday. For the third time our Quilt Guild and the Knitting Guild held a joint event! We were so happy to welcome back several of our members who had been on the injured/reserved list last time. We are sad that some of our regular volunteers are recuperating from ailments.
With the help of our 20 volunteers, we opened the doors at 9:00am. Our greeters, Kathy Pratt and Joan Kiening, welcomed 71 people (including our 20 helpers). Our shoppers donated canned goods and $109.75 in donations for The Joslyn Center. The crew that staffed the tables, sold fabric, notions, books, patterns, and machines included Marcia Ulrich, Lizette Dalquie, Cindy Snyder, Mimi Rivera, her son Josh, Dolores Abelardo, Holli Hainer, Linda Bucknam, Rhonda Gowdy, Leslie Herbst, and Cathleen Jolley. Actual sales were $2,439.75. The net sales of $1,801.75 were after volunteer discounts, a donation, new member discounts, and door prizes gift certificates which totaled $638.00. (For those who are curious, before gift certificates and discounts: Fabric $1,532.25, Notions $716.75, Books $30.75, and Machines $160.00.)
Our Check-Out team who tallied and collected purchases, and processed gift certificates and volunteer discounts included Janna Calkins, Pat Siegel, Annie Houston, Judy Ferraris, Natalie Shonerd, and Cheryl Taylor. Our sincere thanks to Jack and Kim Johnson and their daughter, Jacklyn, for helping us load and unload the truck on Friday and Saturday.
Alex, Rodney, and Art from the Joslyn were wonderful as always; setting up tables and accommodating last-minute changes and even helping to unload (and load) the truck!
As you know, a Sew What Table has many people behind the scenes, rolling, tying, pricing, sorting, and collecting donations. Special thanks to Kim, JudyQ, Tami, Jackie, Jer, and Rose! All the volunteers were invited to meet at Roc’s Firehouse after the event for libations, food, a guessing game, and great fellowship. Jacklyn won a 20% discount for the next Sew What Table because she was the Best Guesser (she guessed closest to the $1801.75)!

The next Sew What Table will be on December 6. In addition to the Sew What Table Volunteers, Membership, Philanthropy, Opportunity Quilt and the Knitting Guild will be there. Stay tuned for more information.

What a great day we had this past Saturday. For the second time our Quilt Guild and the Knitting Guild held a joint event! We had at least 3 members working with bruised ribs, a broken clavicle and other injuries.
With the help of our 29 volunteers we opened the doors at 9:00am. Our greeter, Kathy Pratt, signed in 107 people (including our 29 helpers). She collected canned goods and $120 in donations for The Joslyn Center.
Our crew that manned the tables for fabric, notions, books, patterns, furniture, and machines included JudyQ Block, Linda Perotto, Mimi Rivera, Kim Johnson, Holli Hainer, Sharon Lubetsky, Marcia Ulrich, Harriette Griffeth, Jackie Mason, Lizette Dalquie, Linda Bucknam, Cheryl Quesnell, Kashmir Dhillon, Dolores Abelardo, Tony DeZego and Brian Brown, Cathleen Jolley, Sylvia Moore, and Bonnie Paul - and sold $3,302.75!
Our Check-Out team, Leslie Herbst, Kathleen Herring, Kim Carlson, Treese Pflum, Janna Calkins, Pat Siegel, Kate Baron and Cheryl Taylor not only weighed fabric, tallied and collected for purchases, but processed gift certificates and volunteer discounts.
Our sincere thanks to Tony DeZego and Brian Brown, Cathleen and Cliff Jolley, Treese Pflum and Joe Dunlap, Holly Hainer, Kashmir Dhillon, Sharon Lubetsky and Kim Carlson for helping us load, and unload, the truck. Several of our volunteers “floated” during the event, filling in as needed. Add the $6,563.41 from the December 2024 event and the $3,302.75 from this SWT, we have collected $9,866.16 for the current fiscal year. We will have one more SWT in the current fiscal year.

What a wonderful time we had yesterday. This was the first, but not the last, Sew What Table combined with the Knitting Guild of the Desert Stash Sale!
With the help of our 27 volunteers we opened the doors at 9:00am. The Welcoming Committee - Joan Kiening and Kathy Pratt - signed in 119 people (including our 27 helpers). They collected canned goods and $60 in donations for The Joslyn Center.
Our crew that manned the tables for fabric, notions, books, and patterns included Linda Perotto, Holli Hainer, Marcia Ulrich, Harriette Griffeth, Cindy Valley, Jackie Mason, Lizette Dalquie, Kashmir Dhillon, Holly Hainer, Dolores Abelardo, Tony DeZego, Cathleen and Cliff Jolley sold $4,563.41!
Our Check-Out team, Leslie Herbst, Brian Brown, Annie Houston, Kathleen Herring, Linda Blake, Treese Pflum, Pat Siegel and Cheryl Taylor not only tallied and collected for purchases, but processed 15 gift certificates totaling $320.00.
We had a very important floater - Cindy Snyder, a non-member, who covered stations as needed, and was a wonderful help to us all. Kathy Clewell handled Membership -- it was awesome, but I will let her tell you about that!
We emptied 27 plastic bins and 8 cardboard boxes.

The March 16 Sew What Table was a resounding success! I know, you've heard me rave about the great results before, and it just keeps getting better. Here are the highlights:

We had a record number of people show up: 127 signed in.

We banked our 2nd highest amount in at least 4 years.

We left The Joslyn Center with 58 empty bins! That means that you, dear shoppers, went home with a lot of great stuff! That included everything from gorgeous fabrics to color-sorted bags of scraps; from quilting cotton to flannel and fleece to non-(traditional)-quilting-cotton.

In addition, we emptied 6 boxes of notions, tools and patterns.

AND we sold a sewing machine and a serger.
-
New members joined the Guild and received $25 gift certificates, which they promptly spent!
We drew names for not one, but TWO "shopping spree" prizes. The winners each had 2 minutes to fill a tote bag with the fabric of their choice. In addition, we gave away 10 small bags of fabric and notions as door prizes.
We're taking donations for the next Sew What Table, but it's not for a while, so you have time to sew some great projects with the fabrics you bought on Saturday and get ready. If you have relatively small amounts of fabric and notions, you can bring them to me at The Joslyn Center any Tuesday between 9:00am and 11:30am, though I would appreciate a "heads-up" email or call to let me know you're coming, to make sure I have room in my car for them. If you have a large donation, please contact me to make arrangements. And if Tuesdays don't work for you, please contact me.
The volunteers who made this event possible are many: Thirteen people prepared fabrics and notions for the sale; and 22 worked on the day of the event, several of them also working the day before on setup. The total number of volunteers who brought the Sew What Table to you is thirty!
